POXET-60
Description:
POXET-60 (Generic Priligy, manufactured by Sunrise Remedies, India) is a medication used to treat premature ejaculation (PE) in adult men aged 18 to 64 years. Premature ejaculation is a common sexual disorder where a man ejaculates too quickly during sexual intercourse, often with minimal stimulation, leading to dissatisfaction and distress in both partners. POXET-60 contains dapoxetine hydrochloride, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that has been specifically developed for the treatment of PE.
Mechanism of Action:
Dapoxetine, the active ingredient in POXET-60, works by increasing the activity of serotonin in the nervous system. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is involved in passing messages between nerve cells, including those that result in ejaculation. By increasing serotonin levels and prolonging the time it takes to ejaculate, dapoxetine helps to improve control over ejaculation and increase the time it takes to reach climax during sexual activity.
Indications:
POXET-60 is indicated for the treatment of premature ejaculation (PE) in adult men aged 18 to 64 years. It is not intended for continuous daily use. POXET-60 should be taken as needed, approximately 1 to 3 hours before anticipated sexual activity. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once every 24 hours.
Dosage and Administration:
- The recommended starting dose of POXET-60 is 30mg, taken as needed approximately 1 to 3 hours before sexual activity.
- Depending on individual response and tolerability, the dose may be increased to a maximum recommended dose of 60mg.
- POXET-60 should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.
- Patients should not take more than one tablet within a 24-hour period.
Contraindications:
POXET-60 is contraindicated in patients with:
- Hypersensitivity to dapoxetine or any of the inactive ingredients in POXET-60.
- Significant pathological cardiac conditions.
- Moderate and severe hepatic impairment.
- Concurrent use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), thioridazine, SSRIs, serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), or other medicinal products that potentiate the effects of serotonin.
Adverse Reactions:
Common adverse reactions associated with POXET-60 include:
- Nausea
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Diarrhea
- Insomnia
These side effects are generally mild to moderate in nature and resolve on their own. However, patients experiencing severe or persistent adverse reactions should seek medical attention.
Storage:
Store POXET-60 at room temperature (15°C to 30°C), away from moisture and heat. Keep the medication out of reach of children and pets.
