Description: CLOFI-50 contains Clomiphene Citrate as its active ingredient, which is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) typically used in the treatment of infertility in women. It works by stimulating ovulation in women who have difficulty conceiving due to problems with ovulation. Clomiphene Citrate acts by binding to estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus, thereby blocking the negative feedback of estrogen on gonadotropin release, leading to increased production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). This, in turn, stimulates the ovarian follicles to mature and release an egg.
Indications: CLOFI-50 is indicated for the treatment of ovulatory dysfunction in women desiring pregnancy. It is typically used as a first-line treatment for ovulatory disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and other causes of infertility related to irregular or absent ovulation.
Dosage and Administration: The usual dosage of CLOFI-50 is 50 mg (1 tablet) daily for 5 days, starting on the 5th day of the menstrual cycle. Treatment may be repeated for up to six menstrual cycles if ovulation has not occurred. Dosage and duration of treatment should be individualized based on patient response and monitored by a healthcare provider.
Contraindications: CLOFI-50 is contraindicated in patients with liver disease, abnormal uterine bleeding of undetermined origin, ovarian cysts, and primary pituitary or ovarian failure. It should not be used in pregnant women or those with hypersensitivity to Clomiphene Citrate.
Adverse Effects: Common side effects include hot flashes, abdominal discomfort, nausea, headache, and breast tenderness. Serious adverse effects such as visual disturbances, mood changes, and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) may occur rarely and require medical attention if experienced.
Storage: Store CLOFI-50 tablets at room temperature (15-30°C) in a dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
