Overview:
Priligy 30mg tablets are a pharmaceutical formulation containing dapoxetine hydrochloride, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) specifically developed to treat premature ejaculation (PE) in men aged 18 to 64 years. Each tablet is film-coated for oral administration and contains 30mg of dapoxetine hydrochloride as the active ingredient.
Mechanism of Action:
Dapoxetine hydrochloride, the active ingredient in Priligy, works by inhibiting the serotonin transporter, increasing serotonin’s action at the postsynaptic cleft, and delaying the ejaculatory reflex, thereby providing improved control over ejaculation.
Indications and Usage:
Priligy is indicated for the treatment of premature ejaculation (PE) in adult men aged 18 to 64 years. It is used on an as-needed basis and should be taken 1 to 3 hours before anticipated sexual activity.
Dosage and Administration:
The recommended starting dose is one 30mg tablet taken as needed, approximately 1 to 3 hours prior to sexual activity. Priligy should not be taken more than once every 24 hours. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water, with or without food.
Contraindications:
Priligy is contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to dapoxetine hydrochloride or any of the tablet’s excipients. It should not be used concurrently with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), thioridazine, SSRIs, serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), or other medications that affect serotonin levels.
Adverse Reactions:
Common adverse reactions include nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, and fatigue. Other less common side effects may include dry mouth, diarrhea, and increased sweating. Patients should be advised to consult a healthcare provider if these symptoms persist or worsen.
Storage:
Store Priligy tablets at room temperature (15°C to 30°C) in a dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Packaging:
Priligy 30mg tablets are typically supplied in blister packs of 6 tablets per pack.
